So this weekend, we trekked our way to the big city (New York City) for the Siren Music Festival (well, I wanted to go to NYC for my birthday weekend). It was a blast; that was the first time I had ever been to Coney Island and the first time (and probably last time) I rode the Cyclone. I did get to see a good number of bands, but with the intense sun shining down on Jason’s porcelain skin, we had to seek shelter. I too was feeling the burn and after 6 hours of being outside, I was ready to crash. After a short nap, we headed out for some grub in Brooklyn along with some of Jason’s friends.
Might I mention how hilarious the beach at Coney Island is? There’s this little metal gym/playground thing that these buff, yet overweight guys somehow feel the need to be in their underwear working out in front of everybody. Although, I must say, the beach was pretty clean. I only caught a few glimpses of trash.
We also had time on friday to run around Manhattan: shop at the Apple store and F.A.O. Schwarz, partake in the soup dumplings and see a bit of Slow Dancing.
On Sunday, I turned a lovely 27 years old and chowed down at the Chowder Pot with Jason’s parents on our way back to Boston.
I don’t think we could have stuffed any more events into the weekend. We’re now planning our way to Indiana for a week. As much as I was looking forward to it, I’m tired and we’re leaving on Saturday!
