I was reading Diesel Sweeties and found today’s comic extremely poignant, if not hilarious and ironic. Then again, I don’t really have a big readership.
Ooh, I should talk about the new album. It’s slowly coming along, but I feel I’m making progress. I want to work harder on it, but I’m so tired by the time I come home from work, the last thing I want to do is work on it. I’m up to around 8 songs now. I hope to make 15, but slim that down to 10 in the end. By the way, anybody know of any good female singers? I need me a sultry voice for a track.
I think Jason and I are traveling to Canada in December. Hopefully we’ll hit some major Canadian Northeast cities like Montreal, P.E.I. and Halifax. Yes, I do realize it’s freaking cold, but man, hotels are super cheap this time of the year. My cousin did point me to the farmers almanac that claimed there is a big snow storm coming the week we choose, so we might not go after all. I think our backup plan is Washington D.C. Anybody have suggestions of things or places to see if we do end up going?

In case you’re wondering, Jason made it to Paris fine. I was angry that he didn’t call me when he first arrived, but apparently he had technical difficulties. He doesn’t have a phone, but I did introduce him to Skype so he can call me on the cheap (or free if we’re both online). We both have Powerbooks and it’s super easy to use Skype because they have built in microphones. It peeves me that laptops nowadays don’t have this key feature. We miss each other terribly (aww), but man, I have been having the best sleep of my life…
For Halloween, my friends suggested going to Salem, so we drove up there. I was expecting Hell on Earth, but it was more like Fried Dough and Freaks. We did get a killer deal on caramel apples though; the police forced the vendor booths to close early, so the apple guys were selling their apples for only a dollar, marked down from four dollars! Other than that, nothing interesting happened, we just sorta people watched the whole time. Apparently there was a stabbing , but we left a half hour before hand as the police were shuffling everybody home around 10. Oh also, I have a picture of a guy dressed as a limp penis, which you can probably make out in the second of the blurry pictures.
My new album is coming along very slowly. I did get a chance to work on a song yesterday, but only a little bit. I got some skeletal work done on another disco type song. I feel the name of the album coming together already, I think I’m going tentatively call it “Victrola’s Wild Ride.” Here are the tracks I’m working on now:
- An Evening at the Disco (90%)
- Melissa (10%)
- Honestly (30%)
- On the Dance Floor (5%)
- Don’t Go Home (20%)
- Pax (10%)
Obviously, I’ve got a long way to go to hit my goal of ten tracks. I did do a cover of “Sweet Child of Mine” (yes, that sweet child of mine, although mine is much different than the original), but because I actually want to try and sell this album and I didn’t want to bother with trying to clear the sample, I’m omitting it. I’m also debating on a cover of “Hallelujah”, since it’s been a pretty meaningful song to me and I’ve got some ideas swirling around. But again, copyrights come screaming at me. Damn you copyrights!
